Ever been or know one of those people who say, “I am so sick of Facebook, I think I’m just going to delete it…” Seems like deleting Facebook is the hip thing to do these days is to socially cut yourself off from the internet because you are too cool to care about what others are doing. You’re not too cool and everyone around you hears you say that and thinks to themselves, “you won’t make it a week off the book.”
In a lot of situations, it’s not about what the other person is posting that annoys you but instead you being conscience of their ulterior motive of receiving lots of Facebook Likes. The part that drives you completely insane is how their tacky posts actually end up receiving hundreds of Facebook Likes. Everyone has a similar friend on their Facebook News Feed, feel free to call them out in the comments.
Here is the truth though, complaining about Facebook is like complaining about turning on the TV and it being on a channel you don’t like. Facebook doesn’t control your News Feed, you control your News Feed, you’re just too stupid to realize that.
It is now time to commence the annual Facebook Purge. Instead of their being a 12-hour period where all crime including murder is legal, just act like there is a digital purge and murder your News Feed!
1. Locate Friends You HATE!
Let’s focus on this mega-douche* talking about hot dogs. Every day, this guy gets on Facebook talking about hot dogs and you can no longer take it. Now you’re completely fed up, he has gone to the extreme posted about hot dogs one too many times and you’ve now decided your life would be easier without Facebook and it’s time to deactivate… But wait, there’s still hope!
*The role of the mega-douche is played by me and I am actually a huge fan of hot dogs. Follow me and “like” my posts about hot dogs. #HotDogs
2. Murder Your NewsFeed!
Click on the tiny “v” shape in the right hand corner of any post and your world will change for the better. Crazy right!? Wow! An option to hide the people who you willingly chose to be friends with, what a great feature! Thanks Mark Z! Once you’ve located this option, just click the Unfollow Person button and you’re already on your way to enjoying a News Feed full of information you want to see.
But wait! There is even more! Check out the button that says Make News Feed Better. Click that button and Facebook will take you through a process to help make your News Feed even better!
Stop mindlessly scrolling through your Facebook feed becoming angered by the idiots of the world. Murder your News Feed and start enjoying this free service that you and all of your friends use multiples times throughout the day.
